This is what happens when you are on time for the first time ever

So usually if I'm going out somewhere I'll be running around and faffing about trying to take rollers out of my hair, pack my bag and apply lipstick (all at the same time), like a mad woman, untill the very last minute...and still forget something.
For once, this weekend, I was ready a whole 10minutes early (!) and took this glorious opportunity while waiting to be picked up, for what else but a photo session.
Vain? Me? Never.

(Please click on the photo to see it bigger and clearer)
I know this is not really a proper FOTD as the photos have been edited on instagram but you can still see most of the makeup!)

FACE: Chanel Vitalumiere foundation, Amazing Cosmetics concealer, Benefit Girl Meets Pearl, Nars Laguna, Nars Torrid
EYES: Urban Decay Naked all over lids, Mac Powerpoint in black smudged on upper lash line, Covergirl Lash Blast mascara
LIPS: Rimmel lipstick in Just So (the colour actually looks v.different to this photo!)

How were all of your weekends? Got a post coming up that was really fun to prepare for - untill next time!!

Under My Trench Coat

Sorry to disappoint but this post isn't really as exciting as the title may lead you to believe...probably because I have yet to find my perfect trench coat...*sigh*.

It's a simple Nails of the Day featuring "Under My Trench Coat" from Sephora by O.P.I -  a gorgeous grey/taupe with slight brownish undertones and a sheeny finish.
I have to admit I am one of those people who changes nail colours according to seasons, there's just something wrong about hot pink nails in Autumn (don't kill me!). I love the muted but almost royal tones of Autumn that make me think of fireplaces and jumpers and leaves and candles so I tend to wear burgundy, burnt orange, royal blues and purples, greys and nudes...mmm love.
I don't particularly feel the need to psycho-analyse this polish, I mean how much could you analyse a nail polish? *says the girl who just wrote a full paragraph on nail colours and seasons* But ahem, here are a few thoughts anyway:

* Beautiful colour,
* So Autumn,
* So polished looking
* Not a 'flat' grey colour like those I see garishly staring at me from Boots stands *coughBarryMcough*
* The sheen/very subtle shimmer effect looks gorgeous when it catches the light
* Very fluid, smooth and ungloopy consistency/formula
* Does need a top coat or tends to chip easily - really shouldn't happen with such an expensive brand but I'm such a sucker for their colour range I'll still keep buying from them!
* In the words of Laura (lollipop26/buynowbloglater) - nabbed it, bought it, love it.

(I don't know why but it looks kinda greeny/khaki in the pictures - I assure you it's not at all in real life!)

Under My Trench Coat - Sephora by O.P.I

Ins and Outs

Loveee reading these kind of posts so thought I'd translate my mental "love this, hate this" list into writing!

IN
* chunky oversized jumpers/knitwear
* hot water and lemon - so soothing!
* almond oil for my hair
* birthday loving - flowers and presents and warm wishes
* spicy cheetos
* finding my sweet valley university book series in the attic - collected them OVER 10years ago!
* cinnamon scented candles
* made in chelsea
* chanel illusion d'ombre eyeshadow in illusoire
* autumn/winter - my two fav seasons

OUT
* unproductive, waste days
* that time of the month feeling
* summery nail polish colours
* bumping into horrible ex boyfriend who you haven't seen since january and being so shocked that all the mentally planned scenarios in which you act very cool and collected and unbothered, suspiciously and inconveniently disappear, leaving me standing rather frozen with my mouth hanging open - attractive.

Thought I'd leave with this picture of two gorgeous birthday bouquets I received from two v.special people

Review: Nars Jungle Red Lipstick

Hey Hey Heeeeyy

So, if you ever read my old blog you'll know already that I'm a bit of a Nars addict. Okay bit of an understatement; I'm a huge Nars obsessed freak. My love affair with Nars began when I bought their blush Torrid back in 2009 and now my Nars family has become...well big. I only own three lipsticks from them but I use them aalll the time.
Jungle Red is a hot red (obviously) colour that has a slight orange tint to it, but this orange tint does not translate onto your lips..well it doesn't for me anyway. Without further ado....:

Please excuse the horrible creasing concealer under my eyes and ofcourse my ridiculous poses (once again)

LOVE:
 - How bright the colour is and how pigmented....this was only one application
 - How long lasting Nars lipsticks are...considering the colour, I only had to touch up 2-3hours later!
 - Very smooth consistency
 - The packaging. As usual, Nars packing is sleek, elegant and non-fussy = lovee!
 - How many compliments I get when I wear this! Is such a statement colour!

NO LOVE:
- Is smooth but can be quite drying as you can see from the pictures. Apply balm before this!
- Colour slightly cracks around the edges of my mouth but this may just be because my lips are quite dry naturally!
- The price tag. A£17.50 is quite pricey, but I think it's worth it!

Overall, I lovee this lipstick and recommend it to anyone who dares to go red! I would recommend doing a lip scrub (sugar and olive oil are all you need!) before you apply it though as you dont want it look crackley.

Have you tried any Nars lipsticks, what do you think of them? What are your favourite red lipsticks?!

Smokey Eyes in July

Excuse the cheesy title - but this look is from back in July so I really couldn't resist!
Bit of an old face and outfit of the night but I found it lurking around in a folder on my laptop so thought I might aswell!

really have no explanation for this ridiculous pose!

My Dressing Table

Hey Hey!!

So I thought I'd make my first post an introduction to my little beauty world and what better way to do this than to introduce you to my dressing table?! (please read the disclaimer at the bottom of this post.)
Ever since I bought my first lipgloss (I was 12, it was a sticky, gloopy, cheap little tube and it was one of the happiest moments of my life), I opened the door to a world of beauty storage. At the time my make-up and beauty product storage consisted of cereal boxes with handmade cardboard "slots", shoe boxes, old biscuit tins and one of my all-time lows, an old toilet paper cardboard tube.
......Aaaanyway, moving on, I have now finally achieved my perfect dressing table. Its my little space to experiment and pamper myself, to draw inspiration from and to transform myself into whatever I feel like.
I designed it myself so the builders bought their own wood. The mirror is from Ikea and the drawer knobs are from B&Q.

Disclaimer: I am inherently quite a nosy person and I therefore love to look at people's dressing tables and find new ways of displaying and organising and it is for this reason alone that I am posting this. I am in no way shape or form trying to show-off about anything I own. Nor was this stuff bought overnight, it has been accumulated over a long period of time. Please take it as sharing abit of my beauty world and nothing more than that.

SO I hope you like it, would love to hear what you think! If you would like close-up pictures of any of the nail polishes write a comment and I'll try and put one up!
How do you organise your collection of stuff? Do you like to display it or neatly hide it away? I would be very interested in reading any such posts so please feel free to post a link to yours down below!
